5 Comedy Beefs
We love the east coast/west coast rap battle as much as anyone, here’s our biggest beefs in stand up:
Carlos Mencia/Joe Rogan – This is the most widely known and talked about beef in comedy because its over the cardinal sin, joke stealing. Mencia was know to lift material and Rogan finally called him out at the Comedy Store, check it out on Youtube. Its sweet stuff.
Dane Cook/Louis CK – Some say Dane Cook took some of Louis jokes it was even addressed in an episode of Louie.
David Cross/Larry the Cable Guy – Cross criticized Larry the Cable Guy in a Rolling Stone interview, saying, “It’s a lot of anti-gay, racist humor — which people like in America — all couched in ‘I’m telling it like it is.” In response, Larry devoted a chapter in his book GIT-R-DONE to Cross and the “P.C. left”, claiming that Cross had “screwed with my fans, it was time for me to say something”.
Denis Leary/Bill Hicks – Hicks once told an interviewer: “I have a scoop for you. I stole his (Leary’s) act. I camouflaged it with punchlines, and to really throw people off, I did it before he did”.
Carrot Top/The World – We as a people seem to hate Carrot Top, unless we’re in Vegas, then we go see him like crazy making him a huge act there. Every other place, he kinda blows.
